Anne, your trust and faith in your DH is admirable. I had a father who loved to drive up, or down, every odd road he could find. As kids, we saw, and experienced many roads like you describe. One such trek had all four of us kids learning how to build a "corduroy road". Great trip you had! Waiting for the next adventure ...

I'm sure the next adventure won't be long in arriving, Ann: my dear husband has a list of places for us to explore. I like the idea of you and your siblings on board as your father followed his nose (dh's expression) on the backroads: I bet you have great memories. I wonder whether you needed to build the corduroy road to keep the car moving . . . My dad also had that same itch to accept the invitation of a half-hidden road disappearing into the trees.
